HAPPY HALLOWEEN: Halloween party in the market hall Tegel for young and old
On 31 October 2018, the Tegel market hall was transformed into a witch and ghost temple. In addition to children's make-up and handicrafts, a Halloween wheel of fortune and free pumpkin cream soup, there was also a guided tour of the construction site.
Oktoberfest at Markthalle Tegel: free Weißwurst & Brezn
On Friday, 5th October 2018 we celebrated our Oktoberfest in Markthalle Tegel. In addition to a guided tour of the construction site, a lottery, traditional Oktoberfest music and a live act, there was a free snack with veal sausage and pretzels.
Summer party at Markthalle Tegel
On Saturday, 18 August 2018, the summer party for young and old took place at Markthalle Tegel. There were numerous attractions: While the little ones enjoyed children's make-up, handicrafts and free snacks such as ice cream and popcorn, the grown-ups could relax and shop in the Tegel market hall. In addition to live music and a guided tour of the construction site, there was also a competition with attractive prizes.
The pedestrian walkway is open!
Dear sailors, we are clearing the way for you: From 6 June 2018 there will be a direct passage from Buddestraße to Berliner Straße at the pedestrian zone Gorkistraße. The passage is open daily from 6-21 o'clock.

Site road completed
July 2017 - There is great news from Gorkistraße: The construction road in the pedestrian zone was completed today and the construction fence was erected. Using special technology, demolition work on the old multi-storey car park will start on 31 July. The core removal work in this area has almost been completed. The next step in the construction planning is the construction site equipment for the southern part of the site in Tegel. Here, too, gutting work has already begun.
Complete closure of Buddestraße
July 2017 - Due to construction measures, the Buddestraße in Tegel will be closed completely from July 24th 2017 until August 6th (calendar week 30 & 31), leading to traffic-related constraints. The following bus lines are affected by this: Bus 124, 125, 133, 220, 222, N22, N24, N25, N33. Apart from that, the mentioned bus lines run on their usual route. Diversions for the bus lines will be set up.
The Market Hall stays in the Gorkistraße
January 2017 - For Tegel’s numerous visitor’s the market hall will remain open. During the modernization measures the market hall will be relocated to the Hertie-Haus. After the completion of the construction work, the market hall will move to the southern part of the centre and will shine in new splendour. The interim market hall has opened in the Hertie-Haus since Mid-February.

The reconstruction measures commence at the beginning of 2017
December 2016 - The pedestrian zone Gorkistraße, the Tegel-Center and the former Hertie-Haus as well as the Market Hall are getting embellished and smartened-up. The construction work commence at the outset of 2017. Until 2019 a pedestrian zone of the new generation will emerge. As part of the construction measuresthe retail space will be expanded from currently 30.000 sqm to 50.000 sqm. This will be made possible through the elimination of parking space as well as the addition of stories.
Karstadt is moving to the Gorkistraße- The first opening for more than 30 years
Karstadt is opening a new department store in the emerging Tegel-Center.
Karstadt’s CEO Dr. Stephan Fanderl states: The new opening of a subsidiary is fantastic news. With our new subsidiary in Tegel we will set an entirely new standard for shopping. With the complete new opening of a department store, we start a new chapter in the history of Karstadt and the history of retail in Germany. Locality is one of Karstadt’s essential strengths.
Also in Tegel we will play to this strength by orienting toward the local custom and adjusting our offer corresponding to the other vendors in the centre. The new department store in the Gorkistraße comprises 8.850 sqm retail space on four floors and will be conceptualized as a local market place. The opening is planned for 2019.
